The Emirates Identity Authority received an official delegation from the Republic of Lebanon in its headquarters in Abu Dhabi the day before yesterday. The delegation visited the Emirates ID to get familiar with the UAE experience in developing the population register system and the electronic ID card project.
The delegation, headed by Susan Al Khoory, Acting Director General of Personal Status at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, discussed means of enhancing mutual co-operation with the Emirates Identity Authority and optimizing its experience and best practices.
Mr. Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of Population Register at the Emirates Identity Authority, demonstrated the Emirates ID's strategic plan 2w010-2013 and the most prominent projects and initiatives emanating from it, particularly the project for electronic linkage with government entities, the digital ID project and the experience of setting up the Electronic Certification Center.
During the meeting with the Lebanese delegation, which included a number of officials from the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, Electoral System and Ministry of Energy and Water, Al Mazrouei also demonstrated the experience of using the electronic ID card reading program in organizations and its role in minimizing transaction time, reducing costs and simplifying government services. He further demonstrated the experience of using the ID card in the electronic voting system during the recent Federal National Council elections as well as the two projects of decentralized typing and electronic kiosks.
Later, the Lebanese delegation members visited the Emirates Smart Card Factory affiliated to the Emirates Identity Authority in Abu Dhabi where they were familiarized with the ID card printing operations, ID card quality control procedures and automatic ID card packaging mechanism as per industrial criteria that meet the world's highest specifications.
The delegation praised the UAE vision and its efforts exerted to set up an advanced system for its population register, commending the Emirates ID's mission and efforts aimed at enhancing the personal identity and providing innovative electronic services through the digital ID card project.
The meetings were attended from the Emirates ID by Mr. Abdullah Askar, Population Register and ID card Consultant, Mr. Abdullah Al Kindi, Operations Director, Mr. Shukri Al Buraiki, Director of ID card Issuance Department at the Emirates Smart Card Factory, Mr. Mahmoud Al Sonbaty, Information Systems Consultant, Mr. Shadi Zuraiqat, IT Consultant, and Amer Al Mahri, Head of Services Section.
