The Zakher team won the title of the Emirates Identity Authority's Second Ramadan Football Sevens Tournament 2012 after pounding Sharjah team 4-0 in the final match held yesterday on the sports hall playground of the Zayed II School in Abu Dhabi.
H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, has named "Zakher" the champion of the tournament and congratulated the participants on the sportsmanship they enjoyed during the three-week competitions.
Zakher's win was the culmination of the excellent performance shown by the team members throughout the matches of the tournament, in which Saad Al Hadhramai stole the limelight after scoring the second and third goals in the final match. Khalid Al Kathiri and Mohammed Al Aghbari scored the first and fourth goals.
In the match held to decide the third and fourth winners, "Musaffah" defeated "Suqoor Julphar" 2-1 in a strong match.
On the sidelines of the closing day of the Ramadan tournament, a raffle draw for 4 iPad3 devices was held in the presence of the members of the sports committee of the tournament and the fans from the Emirates ID's employees and guests.
The Emirates Identity Authority organized this tournament for the second successive year as part of its keenness on participating in all cultural, sports and social activities in line with the objectives of its strategic plan, thereby deepening the social partnership among the Emirates ID's staff with the aim of reflecting the teamwork spirit.
The tournament saw the participation of 16 teams who were competing over the title. Each team consisted of 7 major players and two reserve players. The participating teams were given names derived from the UAE symbols and the Emirates ID. The tournament adopted the groups system in the eliminations of the teams held among the Emirates ID-affiliated registration centers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and Northern Emirates.
